Peter joined up with J.C. Crowley, Ronn Moss, and John Friesen to become pop/rock band Player. Player had a #1 hit with "Baby Come Back" in 1978, the song still played all over the world today. They toured as an opening act for such artists as Gino Vanelli, Boz Scaggs, Eric Clapton, Heart, and Kenny Loggins. After four successful albums with Player, the band then split up and Peter began writing songs for other recording artists such as Olivia Newton-John, The Temptations, Kenny Rodgers, which lasted about 10 years. He also began writing songs for movies and TV through the 80's. He got together with friend and former bandmate Steve Kipner once again, and recorded a cd under the band name Think Out Loud. They released a single called "After All This Time", and featured their song "Original Sin(Jumpin' In) in the Tom Cruise movie "Cocktail".

Kelly is typical of the talent we have in this town. Widely regarded as a wonderful singer, it never seems she gets her just rewards. This album shows someone comfortable with their own voice and material, no posing, no trying to limit herself or fit into a genre. Its a strong statement of "this is what I do". For some, not being able to pigeon hole someone is hard to handle, but for many others, genre is irrelevant, as long as its good. From Cole Porter to Irving Berlin to "Id rather go Blind", made famous by Etta James, to originals co-written with Rocky Dabscheck, Kelly explores it all. Her line up of Muso's is also a sign of the esteem in which she is held. Have a listen to this interview!

Haji Ahkba

Haji Ahkba is noted to have a past that interviews can never fully penetrate, here's an example. He plays Trumpet, Flugelhorn and keyboards.
He has studied with some of the true Jazz greats such as Roland Kirk, Blue Mitchell (check your Blue Notes) and Barry Harris. He formed early R & B Bands around Milwaukee and got every decent support act going in his early years, working on the same bill as Miles Davis, Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder. Just name your own heroes he has likely played with them. In 1972 he went to Los Angeles to work with his cousin BB Dickerson, and the group BB was in: War.
He formed the horn section for Bobby Womack's 'Safety Zone' album from 1976, and in 1980 he got into Ghanaian music and joined Hedzoleh Sounds. In 1981 he toured Europe with Sun Ra and took to teaching the seventh scale system for bebop. In 1982 he joined James Brown and stayed with them until, several years ago. Since then he's worked for Tony Cook on the Party People, GAs Projects, and then landed in Britain to embark upon a solo deal. The English would say,"He's got two bands let him tell you in his own words, with his music."
"I'm showcassing with a dance band, and playing jazz with different artists" he'd often say . He was teaching over at Pyramid Arts and trying to get a record deal. The band he worked included guitarist Alan Weeks, an English great well known for playing all kinds of sessions, including a ceftain amount of reggae here and there with the great Joe White. His accompaniments are capable of playing jazz as well as funk; check our gig guide. As an arranger, writer of charts, and funk tutor, there can be none with a heavier background than him in the UK and the USA today. He put together a brass section, Brass Tax, to emphasize this. The inevitable question is what comes next, how, and why?
"I'd just come back from a 61- night tour with Sunny (Sun Ra) and I was tired. For Christmas I went to Philadelphia to spend the week with friend. James Brown was playing there, and some friends asked me if I wanted to go and see him. So I called this guy I knew and got some tickets, we went down there. James had just put this new band together, Maceo had just come back, had been with the band a week. "I walked in the stage door, and they were on stage for the first show. The horns were just saxophone and trombone, no trumpet. So when they came offstage I said: You guys don't have a trumpet player, and James Brown used to have at a least trio. What's goin' on?' There was some kind of story about him getting fired, so I said: 'I know this stuff, I was groomed on it.' "I got to boasting and bragging, so they took me in the dressing room and Sweets tested me. I played the second show! When it came to the charts, I remember where Pee Wee Ellis and Fred Wesley would put the horns; when they saw that the charts went back into the briefcase! In fact, I corrected some of the charts! One of the fellahs jokingly stated " A man who dares to correct JB's music? I told you he was heavy"!

Woodson performed with legendary groups such as "The Drifters' in the early 70's, and later replaced Teddy Pendergrass with the group "The Blue Notes".

Born in Detroit, Woodson started singing at the age of four in the local church choir. It was there that he exhibited heartrending harmonic melodies. At seven years old, Woodson entered and won first prize in a talent show, the first of many such rewards to come throughout his school days.

His incredible vocals and unbelievable range have led him to work with many of the other greats in the industry. He has performed with the Queen of Soul-Aretha Franklin, Natalie Cole, Whitney Houston, Chaka Khan, Patti Austin, "The Godfather of Soul"-James Brown, Lou Rawls, Bobby Womack, Howard Hewett, The Ojay's, Doc Powell, Johnny Gill, Jimmie Jam and Terry Louis, Ralph Tresvant, Chris Martin, Ann Nesby, Al Green, Charlie Wilson and The Gap Band, The Four Tops, Rachelle Ferrell, Sam Moore, and many others.

For over 13 years he was the driving force behind the legendary group "The Temptations".As lead singer of The Temptations, Woodson had to fill the shoes of two of the most powerful singers of all time, David Ruffin and Dennis Edwards. He not only filled those shoes, he took it to the next level creating a style all his own which, is now synonymous with the name "Temptations". Contributing original material for many great new songs, Woodson put the Temptations back on top of the Pop and R&B charts with his "Treat Her Like a Lady", which went gold. His intoxicating delivery of "Treat her like a Lady", continues to be a Pop and R&B favorite all over the world.

Woodson, who is devoted to song, has a way of intoxicating his audiences, engulfing them in a love affair with his voice, producing magical moments. As one fan put it, "He's so versatile. I don't know of another singer I could just sit and listen to all night long".

In 1996 Woodson poured his heart & soul into putting together The Emperors of Soul, his current project. Consisting of four other talented performers… this dynamic group has been traveling all around the world wow-ing audiences at each and every stop. Singing the greatest hits from the Motown era The Emperors of Soul will tug at your heart one moment and make you want to get up and dance the next. From the Temptations "My Girl" to "Papa Was a Rolling Stone" every second will take you back to the memories of long ago & will touch your every emotion. Woodson also has a solo CD entitled "Right Here All Along". He is currently in the studio working on his second release.

Woodson is the total music personality. He's sensitive, open, honest, and driven; maybe that's why he is destined to be the people's entertainer. A singer by trade, Woodson is definitely an artist by passion.
